Kim D. Cannon received his A.B. degree from Dartmouth College, cum laude in 1970, and his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1974. Mr. Cannon has practiced continuously with the firm of Davis & Cannon, LLP (formerly Burgess & Davis) of Sheridan and Cheyenne, Wyoming for the last 45 years during which time he has concentrated on complex litigation. He has represented clients in a wide variety of cases from public land law, natural resources, commercial, construction, employment, personal injury, products liability, professional malpractice, and securities litigation. He has argued over 40 cases before the Wyoming Supreme Court.
Mr. Cannon is an active member of the Sheridan County Bar (President, 1982), the Wyoming State Bar, and the American Bar Association (Litigation Section). He served as a member and chairman of the Wyoming Environmental Quality Council (1992–1996) and the Wyoming Commission on Judicial Conduct and Ethics (1997–2003). Additionally, he served as a Vice President of the Dartmouth Lawyers Association (1997–present); Board member, Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association (2004–2006); and Member, Civil Pattern Jury Instructions Committee, Wyoming State Bar (2002–2009). He has also been a long-standing selection in Best Lawyers in America and in Mountain States Super Lawyers. Mr. Cannon is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and he was inducted as a Fellow, International Academy of Trial Lawyers, in 2007. He will be inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in March, 2020.
